M.V.A. Involving Two Sheriff Deputies

On January 3rd, 2005 at 01:36 multiple units were dispatched to a motor vehicle accident involving two passenger cars and a sheriffs cruiser. Engine 11 was the fits unit to arrive on the scene and found two of the vehicles with severe damage. the deputies cruiser was on fire and extrication was needed for patient removal. Upon starting Patient care, Captain 11 met with off duty Lieutenant/E.M.T. David Akers and Off Duty Firefighter/E.M.T. Deirdre Every who arrived on the scene when the accident happened. Both off duty firefighters pulled the deputies out of danger and started patient care. Captain 11 requested a second engine company, a helicopter, and two additional A.L.S. rescue units. Engine 29 was dispatched to set up a landing zone for the medical helicopters. While responding to the Landing Zone, Engine 29 stopped at the scene and left two firefighters to assist Engine 11 with patient care and hazards and  Engine 29 proceeded to set up the landing zone. Captain 11 established Ridge Road Command and requested a third engine company, a forth A.L.S. rescue, a Battalion Chief, and Four Additional helicopters. All five patient were responded by helicopter to a local trauma center. All units went in service with the exception of Engine 11, who remained on scene.
